About Your Society
The first Society
The QEH Old Boys' Society was first formed on 23rd November 1869. A meeting was held on that date, at which about 150 old boys were present, for the purpose of establishing a Benevolent Society for the relief of Old Elizabethans in adversity or old age. Mr George Thomas was elected president, and Mr W H Harford the banker, treasurer. A committee with a secretary was appointed, and before the meeting broke up resolutions were put and carried congratulating the assembly upon the auspicious inauguration of the Association.*

Today's Society
Unfortunately the Society lapsed after a period and the Society as we know it today was formed in 1899, the first president being Walter T Snow.
The society has close on 1400 members including about 100 overseas. It is managed by an Executive Committee, which is elected at its Annual General Meeting.
The Society communicates with its members through thrice yearly newsletters.
Members are automatically members of the QEH OBS Benevolent Fund, a registered charity, whose objectives are the relief of hardship amongst Old Boys and their dependents and the furtherance of education of boys at School and after leaving. To read more about the Benevolent fund click here
The main social event of each year is the Annual Dinner, which is held in Bristol. This occasion provides an excellent opportunity for former pupil friends and contemporaries to meet in a convivial environment. The Society also encourages members to arrange reunions in other parts of the country. In the recent past, most enjoyable dinners or lunches have been held in Cambridge, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, West Sussex, North and South Devon and Somerset. The Membership Secretary will, on request, provide names and addresses of individual members, or groups of members, by year of entry to the School or by locality to assist OE's in organising events.
This Website, as one of its aims, hopes to maximise communication with and between members through its pages and by e-mail and thereby increase the social activities of its members.
Life membership subscription is £90. If you would like to join, please click here for details and tell Brian Joyner. He will be pleased to enrol you and will let you know where to send your cheque.
